"Sometimes I forget, these ten digits ain't my lifeline anymore...I learned it by heart when I was six, he never did change it. I called it in trouble, with good & bad news, breakups yeah you name it. Sure I've got some friends I can call & they're always there if I need to talk. But good as they are it ain't their fault sometimes, I just need him."
- Dad's Old Number by Cole Swindell.
Cole Swindell just released his new album & I already have my favorite song on it (Dad's Old Number). He's a talented artist with a knack for writing about truths. His older song, "You Should Be Here", is also about his Father's death. I especially love these songs because they are two of the songs I can listen to & almost every word reflects how I feel.
"Grief is the price we pay for love"
-Queen Elizabeth II
Grief. We hear about it and read about it yet can't truly understand it unless we're going through it. I say going through it because it isn't something you ever "get over". This is where Faith comes in. You have to take a lesson from your suffering and treat everyone with extra compassion. Life is short. We can't always control what happens in life, but we CAN control how we react to it. This is where all the power lies, in our reaction.
This post doesn't have a true ending point. I hadn't written in a while and really want to make this a habit. I have a lot to say & also a lot to learn. Blogging is something that scares me; to be so open & really put yourself out there. I think it can also be healing which is why so many people partake. I want to get my voice out there & maybe, just maybe, I can help someone.
If you've lost somebody, press play below. This song speaks mountains & is pure gold.
I have been through some major changes lately & if someone could have explained/caught things sooner for me that would've REALLY helped. BUT, I can't control that it took this long to get answers I needed, I CAN control how I react. I'm thankful for every second of every day.
Stay tuned, I have a feeling this will become a blog that will also talk about mental health awareness, autoimmune diseases, design, photography, my favorite quotes, song suggestions & product recommendations. If you have any requests or questions, feel free to write me!
Thanks for reading!
Carley C.
